Ornn, Fire Below the Mountain won the Barcelona Regional Qualifier, and gear is the whole engine of his deck.

What his Legend does
Ornn’s Legend is a Reaction with a very specific job. You exhaust it to add one Power, but you can only spend that Power to play gear or to use gear abilities (Riot Games, n.d.-a). That makes it free acceleration for a gear deck, and because it’s a Reaction you can use it on your opponent’s turn as well.
His champion cards
Ornn, Blacksmith digs for gear whenever you play him or when he holds, as you look at the top four cards of your Main Deck and may reveal a gear and draw it, then recycle the rest. Ornn, Forge God has Deflect 2 and Weaponmaster, and he gets +1 Might for each friendly gear (Riot Games, n.d.-a).

Why it matters
The cards make a tidy loop. The Legend pays for gear, Blacksmith finds more gear, and Forge God gets bigger for every piece you’ve got in play. It’s a bit like crafting in an MMO, where the real power comes from the pile of gear you’ve collected.
My take is that Deflect 2 matters a lot on Forge God, as he is going to be the biggest threat on your board and opponents have to pay extra to target him.
At the Regional Qualifiers
Ornn won in Barcelona, where MICE TheManland took the title, and he made the Top 8 again in Los Angeles, where MICE TheManLand finished 8th (Riot Games, 2026a, 2026b). Only 2.0% to 2.5% of the field played him each time, with 42 players in Barcelona, 48 in Singapore and 50 in Los Angeles, so those are big results for a small group.
These numbers are from before Radiance released, so they show the old meta. You can browse every Ornn list on the Decks & meta page.
The Overnumbered version
The standard Legend is by Pandart Studio, and the Overnumbered alternate art is by 叫我小董就好了 (Riot Games, n.d.-a).

In League of Legends
Ornn, the Fire below the Mountain
Tank · Freljord
Ornn is the Freljordian spirit of forging and craftsmanship, and he works in the volcanic caverns beneath his lair, shaping objects of exquisite quality from molten ore (Riot Games, n.d.-b).
From the Rift to the table
Ornn is a forge spirit, so a Legend that rewards you for playing gear is about as natural as it gets, and the names Blacksmith and Forge God describe exactly what the two champion cards do (Riot Games, n.d.-a; Riot Games, n.d.-b). His full story is on his official League of Legends champion page.
If you like gear decks, our Azir Spotlight shows another way to build around Equipment, and every Spotlight so far is on the Cards page. Next up is Draven, who draws a card every time you win a combat.
It are what it are.
