Jarvan IV, Exemplar of Demacia is the sixth Radiance Legend we’re covering, and his Legend makes Deploy gear do double duty.

What his Legend does
Every time you play a gear with Deploy, Jarvan lets you exhaust him and pay one Power to move one of your units to that same battlefield (Riot Games, n.d.-a). Deploy gear only survives while you hold its battlefield, so this is exactly the help it needs, as you plant the gear and bring a unit along to defend it. If Deploy is new to you, my keyword guide has you covered.
No champion card yet
Unlike the other Legends we’ve covered, Riot hasn’t shown a Jarvan IV champion unit in the gallery so far. What the set does have is plenty of Deploy gear to pair him with, including one with a very fitting name, Banner of Conquest (Riot Games, n.d.-a).
Why it matters
Deploy is powerful but fragile, and Jarvan solves its biggest problem. Without him you play a piece of Deploy gear and hope you can keep the battlefield, but with him the gear arrives with a bodyguard. He also looks like a natural partner for other Deploy cards in the set, like Ziggs’s Bombs, which you can read about in our Ziggs Spotlight.
The Overnumbered version
The standard Legend is by Grafit Studio, and the Overnumbered alternate art is by Herman Ng. Like every Radiance Legend, the Overnumbered version can also be found with an artist’s signature (Riot Games, 2026).

In League of Legends
Jarvan IV, the Exemplar of Demacia
Fighter / Tank · Demacia
Prince Jarvan, scion of the Lightshield dynasty, is heir to the throne of Demacia. Raised to embody his nation’s greatest virtues, he has to balance the heavy expectations placed on him with his own desire to fight on the front lines. He inspires his troops with fearless courage and selfless determination, raising his family’s colours high (Riot Games, n.d.-b).
From the Rift to the table
Anyone who has played against Jarvan in League will recognize this one immediately. His signature move is planting his Demacian Standard and then pulling himself to it with Dragon Strike (Riot Games, n.d.-b), and his Legend does the same thing on the table, as you plant something on a battlefield and then rush to it. His full story is on his official League of Legends champion page.
What we don’t know yet
With no champion card revealed yet, Jarvan’s full picture is still incomplete, and I’ll update this Spotlight if one appears before the October 23 release. In the meantime, every Spotlight so far is on the Cards page, and my Radiance reveal covers the whole set. Next up is Leona, who turns every stun into a permanent buff.
It are what it are.
